Knowledge Sharing

Knowledge does not move easily across the distances — geographic, institutional, and social — that separate the actors working on agrobiodiversity in Central India. Researchers, NGO practitioners, government extension workers, and farming communities may be working on adjacent problems without any real connection between them.

The Knowledge Sharing working group is focused on closing those gaps. It works on how knowledge flows within and across the landscape: how field observations reach researchers, how published findings reach practitioners, how farmer knowledge is surfaced without being stripped of its context.

This is not simply a communications challenge. It requires building relationships, creating forums, and developing shared language across very different ways of knowing. Some of what this group works on:

• Documentation of community knowledge around millet cultivation, storage, risk, and seasonality

• Translation of research findings into formats useful for practitioners and communities

• Building cross-organisational learning across the roundtable network

• Supporting shared resources — directories, reports, and field notes

The Agrobiodiversity Roundtables are, in part, a product of this working group's orientation: a regular forum where different kinds of knowledge can meet and learn from each other.
