PROVIDING ESSENTIALS: After an overwhelming response to our fund raiser for the villages around Panna TR, we are looking to raise funds for the Pardhi community members in different ‘deras’ or hamlets. It is crucial to provide the Pardhi families with essentials (food supplies and masks) so that to discourage them from going back into the forests for food or as a means of livelihood as their source of income has been hit badly due to the ongoing pandemic which has caused complete lockdown in the said regions. The cost estimated is for 300 families @ Rs. 1000/- per family. For this, we need your support through donations

PROVIDING ALTERNATE LIVELIHOODS:  They need your support to set up small businesses for Pardhi families who have been affected economically by the ongoing pandemic. In the absence of a sustainable livelihood, the community members might regress into a nomadic lifestyle thereby affecting conservation efforts in the landscape as well.  They are looking at funding interested community members, the estimated budget of which is Rs.10,000/- per person or 40,000/- per family business (minimum of 4 members involved).

SUPPORT TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES DURING COVID19 PANDEMIC

The second wave of #COVID19 pandemic has penetrated the rural India, including many forest villages in central India. Inadequate healthcare facilities and low awareness level among the local communities about preventive measures to be adopted, has compounded the situation in many areas.

The Corbett Foundation, with the support of Exodus Travels Foundation, UK, has initiated food relief support to few tribal hamlets in Kanha Tiger Reserve. A packet of pulses, lentils, spices, jaggery, salt, oil and tea leaves, along with bathing soap, detergent and reusable masks is being handed over to each household. The supplies will last for around 15-20 days. This support will not only give them the much-needed help during these difficult times but also hopefully prevent the disease spread as the villagers do not have to visit markets that are the most likely sites for COVID19 transmission.  medical team also visits these villages to check possible COVID19 patients and provide immediate medicine support.

More funds are being raised for this work so that continued support and more villages could be covered under this support. Those interested in extending a helping hand to this work, may please contact us at info@corbettfoundation.org.

Satpuda Foundation

They run a Mobile health unit, with the objective to provide free medical care to the villagers. Their focus areas are villages in and around Tiger reserves in Central India.
Conservation Officers and field assistants plan and run medical camps in consultation with Medical Health Unit of a sister NGO: Nature Conservation Society Amravati.
Frequency of camps is weekly and distributed across 4 Tiger Reserves and on an average, between 150-200 patients get free treatment and medicines every week.

Help them reach their targets to continue providing aid to these villages.
