About the Network for Conserving Central India:
We are a network of researchers, NGOs and managers dedicated to conserving biodiversity, improving livelihoods, and fostering sustainable development in the landscapes of the Central Indian Highlands through the application of science.
About foci and themes:
We solicit posters that showcase work (research and practice) that engages with the multiple and complex dimensions for conserving wildlife habitat while achieving development goals and improving welfare for people in the landscape. Posters in the past showcasing applicable science at CILS have included:
- human-wildlife conflict
- infrastructure impacts and mitigation strategies to allow for wildlife conservation and connectivity
- exploration of lives and livelihoods around central Indian national parks with inferences for reduction of forest
This open call for posters is not restricted to the sub-themes mentioned above, however for those submitting posters to understand more on our priorities please see these themes from past CILS.
Your poster should
When will I know if my poster is selected?
The CILS5 science committee will screen abstracts to select poster presentations.
Posters that are accepted will receive an email intimation by 24th December 2022 with further instructions
[layout, design and possible peer reviews / mentoring opportunities].
Will this be a virtual / a physical poster?
If selected, you will be expected to
A dedicated poster session is planned for in-person interactions on DAY 2 of CILS5 (17th February 2023) from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.
Organizers are brainstorming exciting awards for the best posters at CILS5!

- Showcase work in central India
- Showcase (research and practice) work related to the development and conservation realm
- Show the growing evidence base for science and practice that engages with how people and nature might thrive in central India.

Will this be a virtual / a physical poster?
If selected, you will be expected to
- Bring a physical poster to CILS5 and prepare a single minute explanation of the main take-aways / hook for further discussion of what was the most interesting finding
- Submit a pdf/virtual poster - we will host these for others to engage with your work during and after CILS5
- A one minute video of you explaining your poster’s most exciting aspects (optional but could help get great visibility for your work across social media channels)
